Delay in exam leaves law graduates in lurch

The All India Bar Examination (AIBE), which law graduates must clear to be eligible to practise as lawyers, has not been conducted for the past seven months as the Bar Council of India (BCI) is yet to finalize an agency to conduct the exam on its behalf. The exam, which the BCI had made mandatory in 2010, is usually held thrice a year.

Karnataka Examination Authority to declare counselling results today

For the sake of some students who won't surrender their seats, you can't deprive many others of their opportunity, the high court said on Wednesday. It directed Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) to announce on Thursday the results of its second round of counselling for casual round seats.

Scholarships for IT aspirants

NIIT Limited, in a new initiative, has launched 'The Turning Point Scholarship 2012' for the new GNIIT programme and Express Diploma programmes. The scholarship is an initiative towards enhancing employability of students.

Amitabh Lahiri, chief business officer, career building solutions, NIIT said, "The scholarship is meant to recognize and encourage students to pursue their career goals in the IT industry."

Now, you can take medical entrance in Bengali

KOLKATA: Candidates can take the common medical entrance test in Bengali from 2013. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has agreed to set the question papers in Bengali from 2013, apart from English and Hindi.

The decision was taken by the Medical Council of India (MCI) at a meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday. It was attended by the representatives of medical education departments of various states and the MCI officials.

52 candidates from abroad get into NIT in Trichy

As many as 52 students were on Wednesday admitted to NIT-Trichy under the Direct Admission of Students from Abroad (DASA) Scheme. A total of 314 have so far been admitted to the institution. "Most of them are from the UAE such as Sharjah and Dubai, and also from Malaysia and Singapore," dean Dr N Anantharaman (academic) told TOI.

Google and NIIT launch Google Web Academy in India

Google, in collaboration with NIIT, has introduced a training initiative for young professionals in India, to be called GoogleWeb Academy. 

It aims to bridge the digital skill gap in the country and help students and professionals capitalise on the emerging job markfor the online industry. 

Under the initiative, NIIT will offer specialised courses through its centres across the country.
