Huawei, Intel to set up China lab in Kolkata

KOLKATA: Chinese telecoms gearmaker Huawei and US chipmaker Intel Corp have teamed up to sup a laboratory in China for interoperability testing and faster deployments of LTE TDD -- the technology platform for 4G wireless broadband services.
"Huawei has been committed to LTE TDD commercial deployment worldwide," said Deng Taihua, Huawei's president LTE TDD & WiMAX & TDS wireless networks, said in a media statement. "We are excited to partner with Intel to accelerate the development of our technology and provide customers with leading LTE TDD solutions."

NEW DELHI: IT and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal said National Policy on Electronics (NPE) likely to be approved this month. 

He further said National Telecom Policy (NTP) and National IT Policy ( NPIT) are likely to be finalised in May. 

"At the moment we have to have dialogue with the Planning Commission. Once that dialogue is over, we will send it (NPE) immediately to cabinet. If possible, hopefully, this should be done in this month itself," Sibal told reporters here. 

TRAI raises limit to 200 SMS per day

Great news for all Mobile phone users, coz from now onwards users will be able to send 200 text messages a day as sector regulator TRAI has doubled the daily cap after it received representations from consumers and service providers to relax the limit. TRAI had introduced the 100-SMSes a day cap to stop unsolicited and pesky text messages from telemarketers selling everything from real estate to weight loss solutions. The cap also put an end to subscribers using multiple SIM cards to send text messages without registering as telemarketers.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday asked its official to avoid using social networking websites like Orkut and Facebook in the office.

The MHA has released a circulation in this regard and asked its official to restrain from surfing social networking sites during the office hour due to security reasons.

The rise in ATM frauds Chandigarh

Chandigah: Around 30 cases of withdrawing money using cloned ATM cards of nationalized banks have been reported since August from Chandigarh, and Mohali and Panchkula, the city's suburbs in Punjab and Haryana. Lakhs of rupees have been withdrawn fraudulently from Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in Chandigarh and neighboring towns in the past four months, the culprits will be nabbed soon.

NASSCOM, CBI tie up to fight Cyber Crime

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) to share experiences on controlling Cyber Crime. The MoU will establish collaboration between law enforcement agencies through Cyber and Hi-Tech Crime Investigation and Training (CHCIT) of the CBI and the information technology industry through Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and NASSCOM. The collaboration aims to share information on security standards and new challenges in managing CyberCrime.
