Indian Government Planing to set up NTI Centre, to fight Cyber Fraud

The Indian government is planning to set up a National Threat Intelligence Centre in view of rising cyber crimes such as identity theft, hacking, financial fraud, child pornography and corporate espionage. While launching a report on cyber security prepared by software industry body Nasscom, Home Minister P Chidambaram said that the government needs to fortify its capacity to deal with online security threats/crimes.

NEW DELHI: IT and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal said National Policy on Electronics (NPE) likely to be approved this month. 

He further said National Telecom Policy (NTP) and National IT Policy ( NPIT) are likely to be finalised in May. 

"At the moment we have to have dialogue with the Planning Commission. Once that dialogue is over, we will send it (NPE) immediately to cabinet. If possible, hopefully, this should be done in this month itself," Sibal told reporters here. 

A Graduand Kills himself after girl "unfriends" him on Facebook

New Delhi :A 21-year-old "Sumit Singh" hanged himself after a girl removed him as a "friend" on social network Facebook. Sumit from Janakpuri, New Delhi,  became interested in the girl after meeting her on the website. But when he told her of his romantic feelings, she "unfriended" him from her list, said the Daily Mail. Sumit tried to contact the girl but her friends reportedly bombarded him with abusive messages and told him to leave her alone. After reading a message by sumit she replied

The next time you check in to a hotel, a cyber criminal could be checking you out. A remote access computer Trojan (RAT) designed to steal credit card details from hotel point-of-sale (PoS) applications is being sold on the underground forums, according to researchers from security firm Trusteer.

Phishing Scam Targets Twitter

After email scams, and spam posts on Facebook, Twitter seems to be the victim of a new Phishing attack. A new scam has surfaced wherein users receive a Direct Message (DM) that states how others are saying bad things about you, along with a link. However, once you click on the link, you may be redirected to a malicious website that steals your Twitter password, and also tries to infect your mobile device or PC.
