You can change your mobile operator but retain number

Communications Minister Kapil Sibal launched the eagerly-awaited mobile number portability scheme in Haryana to allow cellphone users to change their operators while retaining existing numbers. Mobile number portability will be available nationwide," Sibal at a function to launch this scheme from this town that is a part of the Haryana telecom circle. To demonstrate the launch, the minister made the first call from a "ported" mobile phone to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The operator, according to officials here, was changed from a state-run company to Idea Cellular.

Broadcom to acquire Networks

Chip-maker Broadcom Corporation announced that it would acquire Gigle Networks Inc., a privately-held company that develops system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for home networking over power lines. Gigle Networks' technology will widen the breadth of Broadcom's intellectual property and enable the design of SoCs that allow whole-home network coverage in a wide variety of global deployment scenarios.

Cable & Wireless to manage MphasiS' global network

IT services vendor MphasiS has selected network service provider Cable & Wireless Worldwide to enhance its communications and collaboration between its global locations, under a three year, $4.1 million contract. Accordingly, C&W Worldwide will connect MphasiS' global sites in India, China, the United Kingdom and the Unites States of America Mphasis restructures business for growth.
