The UK will strike first in Cyber Warfare, says foreign secretary

THE UK has developed weapons to counter the threat from hackers and will strike first to protect itself, according to Foreign Secretary William Hague. Hague has warned that the Government is investing heavily in deterrents but admitted he could not be certain they would be sufficient in repelling Cyber Attacks. He told the Sun, "We will defend ourselves in every way we can, not only to deflect but to prevent attacks that we know are taking place.

US Released National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education Strategic Plan

The U.S. government will work to develop an "unrivaled" cybersecurity workforce and broaden the nation's pool of skilled cyberworkers under a draft cybersecurity education plan released Friday by a U.S. agency.

The goal of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) plan, released by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is to improve U.S. cybersecurity by focusing on education, the agency said.

NIA website taken down to tighten anti-hacking security

Days after the hacking of the website and internal mails of the National Security Guard (NSG), the government Tuesday ordered temporary shutting down of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) site to tighten its safety mechanisms.

The webpage, http://www.nia.gov.in/, of the NIA says the site "is under maintenance".

The NIA, a premier anti-terror probe agency, was created in the aftermath of the 2008 Mumbai attack. It is empowered to take up terror-related crimes on its own across states in India without getting special permission from states.
